Located in the historic Ontario town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Stratus Vineyards is a gravity-flow winery, distinguished by its LEED –certified facility, its commitment to sustainability, and wines of outstanding quality. Made from hand-tended grapes grown on the Stratus estate, the vineyard’s signature wines, Stratus Red and Stratus White, are crafted in the tradition of assemblage, the art of combining several grape varieties into a single wine. Stratus became the first building in Canada to receive LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the Canada Green Building Council and is the first winery worldwide to fully achieve this designation. To qualify for LEED certification, the winery met numerous criteria for reducing its impact on the environment both during construction and on a permanent, operating basis. As a result of this and of the distinctive interior design created by Diego Burdi of burdifilek, the winery has received several national and international design awards.
