The museum, which opened in 1907, houses Ontario's most important local history collection, and mounts interesting and engaging exhibitions that provide insight into the unique history of Niagara-on-the-Lake. After the Second World War, the museum expanded to include Niagara High School, built in 1875. A War of 1812-themed exhibition, "Niagara on the Eve of War," continues all year.
