In 1905 Frank Lloyd Wright designed a boathouse at the request of the captain of the University of Wisconsin Rowing Team.  The boathouse was intended for a site on the Yahara River in Madison Wisconsin.  The students were never able to raise the funds needed for the project so their plans never came to fruition.  In 2000, three individuals from Buffalo, all members of West Side Rowing Club, formed Frank Lloyd Wright's Rowing Boathouse Corp. with the express purpose of building Wright's only design for a rowing boathouse and putting it into use for its original intended purpose.
