Doors Open Weekend

Binational Doors Open Niagara 2012 will take place on Friday, June 15, Saturday, June 16 & Sunday, June 17.

*Please note that not all sites will be participating on all 3 days - be sure to check each listing for days and times.

Binational Niagara is a special place to many of us and 2012 is the year our cross-border region will unveil new stories about our rich shared history and the built heritage, architecture and landscapes that define our region.  As one of the most significant cross-border regions for War of 1812 activities, this year our focus is on the celebration and commemoration of those events, people and places that formed the foundation of our two great countries and resulted in 200 years of peace along our shared border.

We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Binational Doors Open Niagara, and in keeping with the War of 1812 theme, will be showcasing sites and architecture of the 19th century, along with the regional 1812 Bicentennial Peace Gardens that are included in the greater Peace Garden Trail that extends throughout the Southern Great Lakes Region and will be rolled out between May and October 2012.

We will launch the 10th anniversary celebrations on June 8 with a series of special events in signature locations – a retrospective on our photography contest winners from the first 9 years, cultural performances, an architectural speaker series and more – culminating in the Doors Open Niagara weekend June 15 to 17
